Amna in Low Key - Albuquerque Portrait Photography

Amna came in for some business headshots for her accounting firm, but we ended up getting so much more than that.  She has such grace and beauty!

According to Amna, this green shirt and skirt was her "churchy" dress.  I'd say she successfully kicked the sass up a notch :)

Pretty in Pink - Albuquerque Portrait Photography

This weekend I pushed the dining room table out of the way and set up a studio.  This was Amna's first time in front of the camera, but it only took a few minutes before she was a pro!  Here's my favorite from the first wardrobe change :)

Hula Moves on the Beach - Commercial Photography

Hula Moves came out for a shoot of the group on the beach.  Here are just a few.  Some are posed and some from their beach workout.  Jen's husband helped to direct during the shoot.  I asked him if Jen was always as positive as she is in class and he says that he lives with a little ray of sunshine.  She is a great friend and role model.  If you ever get a chance to take her class, you will get your dose of sunshine for the day, no matter the weather outside!  It's a great workout for guys and gals alike!

Center Your Chi - Commercial Photography

Jen is an engineer by day and math tutor and yoga instructor by night.  Somehow she has energy to do it all.  She's starting up her own side business in Pacific Beach.  Here's just a few of the shots.  I DEFINITELY need to take some lessons from her!

Monkey on my Back - Family Photography

n April 18th I set up shop at Torrey Pines for a day of shooting and relaxing at the beach.  The weather forecast for Sunday kept jumping back between beautiful and rainy all week.  Come Sunday it decided to do both!  It was gorgeous in the morning and afternoon, but when 6 rolled around, the clouds rolled on in, and started to pour just after 7.

I started my day with a family where the parents were on my softball team a few years back.  I remember the little munchkins being so small and shy.  To my surprise, the oldest had grown about two feet since I last saw her.

After warming up with a little relay race with the buckets, the youngest was quite the ham.

Scott - Lead Singer and All Around Badass

Behind the Scenes

On Sunday, I had the wonderful help of two assistants.  One of them took some behind the scenes photos to show some of the action.

I started the shoot with Jet West at their manager's house in front of some life size art.

Soon after we moved to Sunset Cliffs at the bands' favorite surf spot.  If was quite an adventure to climb down the cliff with all the gear (especially the part where we had to rappel down a rope).  Holly did their makeup as usual.  She the best makeup artist I know.

The sunset was awesome.  There were two flat rocks out in the near part of the coast line.  The tide was coming in quick, but I was able to get out to one and the band on the other for some great shots.

Stay tuned for a few of the final images.

Brenna's Wedding - Wedding Photography

On Feb 28, Brenna took her husband's hand and jumped into the next step of their lives. Their new journey begins in upstate New York, 3000 miles away.  The wedding was held at a winery just outside Yosemite.  They got married in a cave underground.  Here are a few of my favories.

Jet West Band Headshots

Jet West headlined at Winston's last Friday (March 5th). I had the privilege to photograph them for a set of headshots, group shots at the venue, and some live performance on stage. Here's the first photo I've finished of Derek, their Drummer. Let's just say they made my job easy!

Please respect the copyright.
I met Chris Warner, one of the band's guitarists and singers, on a cruise to the Mexican Riviera. I was talking with one of my girlfriends in the atrium listening to band play, and Chris jumped up on stage and started jamming with the band for about an hour. I have to say I was impressed.

They are in the middle of recording their first album and will be shooting their first music video coming up here in two weeks.

Hula Moves for All Abilities - Event Photography

I can't say this enough! Jen from Hula Moves is one of the most giving, positive, AMAZING people I know. On Feb 5th, she put on a charity event for the disabled community of San Diego County down at the War Memorial Building. Although the weather was dark and gloomy outside, you stepped into the gymnasium, and you couldn't help but smile at her amazing energy. She led two groups (teens and adults) in a hula dance with the help of Amy, one of Jen's good friends.

Amy has been in a wheel chair almost all her life, but she has never let that hold her back in anything she does. The pair brought the house down. They performed "Tiny Bubbles" in a much appreciated encore. Here are just a few pics from the event.

PMA 2010 - Spiderman Stole the Show - Event Photography and Photobooth

At PMA 2010, HP set up a mock-store for customers to come in a print photo enlargements, collages, calendars, and photobooks. The also had a red carpet area for customers to pose with Batman, Spiderman, George Parros (Anaheim Ducks hockey star), and Spongebob.

On Day one, the photographers at the booth were using point and shoots. HP printers can print such BETTER photos than little cameras can even take. Towards the end of Day 1, I made some friends with a lighting vendor down the way, and by the start of Day 2, we had a pro setup from lighting to lenses and customers were printing amazing photos!!! Spiderman was so animated, he stole the show!

PMA was really small this year, downsized from the Vegas convention hall it had always been in. The number of people were even fewer, however, we managed to stay very busy. The booth had a great concept and was very interactive.

Thanksgiving

My extended family came to visit San Diego for Thanksgiving. We rented a HUGE AMAZING house in La Jolla and had a blast. Here's a few quick pre-dinner shots :)

After looking at the last few posts that were actally taken a year apart, I'm beginning to think that I love stone walls + seniors. For some reason it's a great background that's not too plain, but not too distracting. The tones also complement the skin :)

Hula Moves Event

Jennifer Adams is one of the most positive and inspirational women I know. She has a passion for Hula owns a company called Hula Moves. She hosted a charity event in November to inspire women to lead healthy lives.

The event started with juicing and a relaxing yoga class.

Jen's brother is a massage therapist and was offerring free shoulder sessions.

Some of the other Hula dancers brought hand made lei's to sell for the charity.
I liked Jen's fitness classes so much I now go every Tuesday! I don't think I could make it through such a hard core aerobics classes without her positivity and motivation! She's amazing!
