Do We have to wear masks?
Upon arrival, Yes, even for outdoor sessions. Due to the close proximity of the meet and greet and check-in, all children over the age of two must arrive and check-in wearing a multi-layered, non-vented mask until your call time. Please use hand sanitizer upon arrival, sign in, and stay masked until your session begins. At that point, after check-in, participants actively in the session can take masks off and we should be able to maintain social distancing for the remainder of the session.
How many people can be in the sessions? Can Grandparents come?
Up to 5 people may participate in full outdoor sessions (Extended family outside your household are not allowed for mini-sessions, but are allowed for full sessions where we have more space to move around). The only exception to the 5 people rule is when more than 5 people live in your household.
Can I bring my dog?
If you want to book an outdoor family session at a location that allows dogs, then absolutely! But they must remain on a leash at all times and an extra handler, not participating in photos to help. The dog and handler count toward the 5 "person" limit.
What happens if one of my kids gets sick?
We recommend limiting all exposure points in the 2 weeks prior to your session to make sure no one gets sick.  Temperatures will be checked upon arrival as well as a health screening. Your household will not be allowed to participate if anyone else in the household has symptoms of sickness within 2 days of your session, or was potentially exposed to a positive case of COVID within 2 weeks of your session. Please refer to Terms below. There is no penalty or fee to reschedule for sickness or potential covid exposure. You will need a doctor's clearance or negative test to reschedule.

TERMS: Due to COVID, we have strict restrictions for participation, following the Center for Disease Control's and WHO's recommendations. Please note that if anyone in your household has a fever of 100 or more, croup, cough, sore throat, nasal discharge, had any COVID symptoms defined by the CDC (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/hcp/clinical-guidance-management-patients.html), has thrown up, or has had diarrhea in the two days prior to the event, or been in contact with anyone testing positive for covid or had a positive case at their school, child care, work, gym, or home within 2 weeks prior to your session, your entire household will not be allowed to participate. Please keep your kids away from contagion in the weeks before the event. Masks and social distancing are required for all persons 2+ years old as local health mandates require.  If you are not able to participate due to sickness or any other emergency or situation, you can use your Session Creation Fee and any package selected and paid to reschedule for another available date up to 1 year in the future.

Please note that we are shooting outdoors on uneven ground such as gravel, river rocks, and a steep hill. You certify that you are over 18 years of age entering into this agreement. You acknowledge that the Session Creation Fee is non-refundable; give permission for images from this session to be posted to Facebook and other media, and used for future advertising; acknowledge that the studio is available as a backup location to vaccinated individuals in the event of bad weather; agree to dress your family in proper clothing and footwear for the weather and outdoor activities; acknowledge that bathrooms will not be available; accept all risks, release from liability, indemnify, and hold harmless Ell Photography LLC, Kira King Design LLC, photographer and any of its employees, agents, or property representing or related to event, including any and all liability for personal injuries (including disease or death) and property losses or damage occasioned by, or in connection with any activity or accommodations for this event; agree to abide by all the rules and regulations promulgated where event will occur, by hosts, city ordinances, and health mandates.

Tamaya Wedding After the First Snow - Albuquerque Wedding Photographer

Sneak Peak of the Wedding of Jon and Camille at Tamaya

Albuquerque is such a pleasantly small world!  When Camille got engaged, she was referred to me by one of the first girlfriends I made when I moved here to NM.  We all went out to Happy Hour get to know each other and hit it off right away.  Then we found out that her fiance and my husband both have their doctorate degrees in the same very specific aspect of engineering. Excitedly, I skipped home to tell my husband and one of our friend's in the same field that was visiting us at the time. Much to my surprise, I discovered that Jon was actually our friend's roommate back in college hundreds of miles away.  It's so fun to uncover all the webs of connections when you meet new friends!  Jon and Camille are both AWESOME people and I hope that we are friend's and stay in touch for a long time!

The night before their wedding, I was so nervous about the weather because it was pouring down all day and into the night before the wedding, but we woke up to many blessings as the rain had stopped early in the morning, and the Sandia mountains were snow capped and glistening!  The snow on the mountains really made this Rio Grande landscape so beautiful and wildly romantic for these two new lovebirds. And with a little chill in the air, they had even more reason to snuggle up close together for their wedding pictures :)

After much debate, they decided that they wanted to do a "First Look" before the wedding. The woods were a perfect setting for them to share their romantic moment alone together (more of these photos soon!). This was taken just after Camille was such an elegant and poised bride!

The couple's little nieces were the cutest flowers girls!  And their little nephews were little hams (and very responsible ring bearers!)  I thought it was so cute that Camille wanted the flower girls to have their own bouquets instead of petals.  As she reminisced of weddings she was in when she was young, she said she always wanted to have a bouquet like the big girls.

A Whole Lotta Fun - Albuquerque Portrait Photographer

Turn your Albuquerque Photography Session into a Date!
I met Jim through a networking group and we immediately hit it off.  (It's hard not to get along great with Jim).  Last week he told me that the following day was his 20 year wedding anniversary with his wife, Rebecca, and he wanted to surprise her with a romantic couple's photo shoot.  They had been wanting to do a couple's portrait for a while now and had been looking for the right Albuquerque photographer.  We showed up at her work at the NM Business Weekly and she had no idea it was coming!!  She was so excited.

Here were some cute shots from around Downtown Albuquerque.  Jim was a hoot and kept us all laughing.  We all had a great time.

The Jameson Wedding Ceremony - Wedding Photography

It is said that rain on your wedding day is good luck.  But why?  The "logic" behind the superstition says that a wet knot is more difficult to untie.  And so it was for James and Leah, although thankfully it only sprinkled a little bit the morning of the ceremony.

James and Leah tied their wet knot in Half Moon Bay, CA.  The coastal fog actually provided some beautiful diffused light for the ceremony.

Leah brings so much energy into any occasion and was extremely animated, even through the ceremony.

Falling for Your Sweetheart Over and Over Again - Albuquerque Photography

This young couple has been married for 3 years, but together for many more.  When I first met them, I thought I'd be shooting an engagement session for their announcements, and was surprised to learn they were already hitched.  The trees behind the waterfall and the pond were just starting to turn and made a romantic background for this gorgeous couple.  They made the photoshoot fun and easy, but narrowing down the photos was very hard!

My Best Friend's Wedding - Wedding Photography

Labor day is a VERY popular weekend for weddings!  My two best friends got married on the same weekend, one on Saturday and one on Sunday.  Two days, two states, and two best friends taking the next step into the rest of their lives.  I impromptu photographed both of them, here are some of my favorites of Jaynie's wedding (James' still to come).

Chief, Jaynie's pup was their ring bearer at the Corvallis Rose Garden.  They had their reception at Strega.  It's unfortunate that the restaurant closed down, but still awesome that you can rent it out!!!  They had their first dance just as the sun set over the mountains.

Dancing in the Land of Enchantment - Albuquerque Dance Photography

As much as I miss dancing in San Diego, Albuquerque is bursting at the seams with latin flavor and plenty of ballrooms.  Ynette invited me to photograph her and her husband/dance partner down at Enchantment Dance Studio.  Their instructor Nick was with us every step of the way to help them stike a pose.  It was  quite a challenging photoshoot as the main ballroom was being remodeled, so we used the smaller ballroom that was surrounded in mirrors.  There were only a few angles to avoid reflections of the lights (or worse me!) in the photos.  We started with some traditional poses, then some lifts. At the end, they just danced and I chased them around.    Here are some of my favorites.
